Turkish NFL star visits Turkey

Former Pro Bowl Offensive Lineman and current play by play announcer for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tunch Ilkin came to  Turkey where he is a special coach to players of the Istanbul Cavaliers American Football Club. Mr. Ilkin’s parents immigrated to the US when he was just 2 years old. Despite living his life in the US, his Turkish is very good. He was raised in Chicago before playing for the Indiana State Sycamores NCAA American Football team. He attended school with NBA Basketball legend, Larry Bird. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers where he played 12 years before retiring with the Green Bay Packers after just one year with the club. He is currently one of the most colorful sports commentators in the NFL and one of Pittsburgh’s most loved individuals.

American Football is only 8 years old in Turkey and is gaining more popularity. Mr. Ilkin is the only player of Turkish decent to ever play in the NFL. He sees great potential and interest in American Football amongst Turkey’s youth and expects to see Turkish Professional NFL players in the future.
